Ben Grayling

Ben Grayling
An Adelaide boy who had spent all of his working life in the Australian outback, as a stockman and a road train driver, carting cattle and minerals, (a road train is a very… very long truck), Ben realised he had the potential to be an overland driver/leader when he joined a trip from Nairobi to Cape Town as a passenger. He could drive a truck, had a bit of common sense and on this particular trip, spent a lot of time, as a passenger, under the truck. Incidentally, this company is now defunct! Whilst working for Dragoman, the highly successful overland company, quite a number of Ben’s passengers became ‘repeats’ and accompanied him on several trips in different parts of the world. This is when he realised he was doing something right. It was time to move on, explore and develop new and un-trodden paths and routes, time to nurture his passion.

Ben is now at ‘home’ in Nepal. He is a self confessed lover of this amazingly beautiful country, her people and the mountains! He’s also having quite a turbulent relationship with India, is totally in love with Pakistan, Bhutan and Bangladesh… and is quite besotted by Tibet! He’s also an accomplished mountaineer and when time permits, an avid walker. Ben often explains to people, ‘the Himalayas have her claws in my heart and she just keeps pulling me back!’
