'Gross National Happiness' is one of the objectives the government is aiming for in the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan; the most laid back and chilled out country in Southern Asia! Best Of Asia Overland spend ten days roaming around this absolutely delightful country, where even the King follows our movements with great interest.
We enter this magical country at Phuentsholing in Western Bhutan and begin to climb immediately. Paro, is our next stop, followed by the sleepy city of Thimphu, which can make the claim of being the only capital city in the world that doesn’t have traffic lights. Continue on to Dochula Pass (3050m), Wangdue, Punakha, Gangtey Gompa, Trongsa and Endochholing, rated as Bhutan’s newest and best discovery where few tourists have ventured, here, we even stay in a palace for two nights. The Land of the Thunder Dragon is one of those places that should be (if not already) added to ones 'must do while it's possible' list!
